How do I become a worry-free mama?
Is it possible to be free of anxiety and worry while being a mama?! I think this will be a constant battle! We need to continue coming to Jesus, to sit with Him, to soak in His presence, and to renew our minds with peace as hard circumstances come at us in motherhood. I want to start this blog by having you read this famous passage from the Bible, and let the Holy Spirit minister peace to your heart.
“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’ ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’” (Luke 10:38-42 NIV)
Some takeaways that the Holy Spirit showed me were that Martha was distracted by all the chores that caused worry, while Mary was just sitting worry free soaking in the Lord’s presence. There are so many chores to get done in motherhood, and if we always focus on what needs to get done rather than bring Jesus into every part of our day, we will get consumed with worry. God tells us just to take one day at a time. Scripture says. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (Matthew 6:34 NLT)
I know God has also called us mamas to be hard workers. He has called me to watch carefully over my home. But I have had to learn to balance the cleaning and chores, and not to exhaust myself stressing over having a perfectly clean house.
Some tips I have done to kick out worry:
1) Sit in the Lord's presence praying for the day.
2) Play worship music or a podcast when I do need to clean, or pray while doing the cleaning.
3) Give my “mama burdens” to the Lord. When something feels heavy in motherhood with one of my children, I have learned to surrender that burden to the Lord, and to leave it at the feet of Jesus.
I want to close this blog with a prayer of surrender for us mamas.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
I confess my burdens and heaviness (name them all by name). I repent and renounce all anxieties and heaviness in Jesus' mighty name. I cast these burdens upon You and leave them at the feet of Jesus. God, deliver me from all anxiety, heaviness, and worry in Jesus’ name. I thank You that Your yoke is easy, and I ask that You will give me rest and faith in this area of my soul.
In Jesus’ mighty name!
Amen
Blessings,
Kingdom Mama
